Dimitris Gogos (Bayianteras), “Hatzikyriakeio,” with Stratos and Stellakis singing, 1938.

I set out one evening with a good friend
for Hatzikyriakeio and Ayio Neio.

There’s cool retsina and pretty girls there
But they just toy with you with their charms and flirting.

There’s a dark haired girl who’s all charm
At first, she gave me kisses but now she doesn’t care at all.

And every evening I wait for her to pass by on the road
And if I don’t run off with her one night the world will end.

I notice a lot of songs posted are about women and those you can not actually have. Is this a common theme within Greek music? It makes it seem men are at a disadvantage with finding love.
